TRYOUTS and TEAM FORMATION PROCESS

TRYOUTS
The Franciscan Soccer Club coaching staff looks for the following traits in the players that come to tryouts.

(1) DESIRE TO PLAY THE GAME: We look for children to show that they have the desire and enthusiasm to compete.

(2) FOCUS: We look for players to display that they have the maturity to follow instruction and inspire the other players.

(3) ATHLETIC ABILITY: Soccer is a contact sport that requires a lot of proper running technique and endurance. So we look for athletic children with average to better than average speed. Although speed and strength are most noticeable in a player, it does fully determine a player's level of soccer ability.

TEAM FORMATION
F.S.C. has a unique system for developing teams where children play with other children at their own ability levels. There are many benefits to this player with this system. Here are some of them.

1) More children have a chance to get on a competitive team at their level, because F.S.C. teams are formed by the Club staff, not by one coach or a parent "board".
2) Children play on teams with more players at their own ability, so they feel more part of the team.
3) Players who are advancing faster than others can play on higher level F.S.C. teams based on merit.
